About Me
Homemade desserts with a lighter touch and a lot of love

I grew up as the daughter of Chinese immigrants, where dessert after a meal was usually just a piece of fruit. That all changed when I discovered Hostess treats at the corner bodega—my first sweet indulgence. A love for desserts quickly followed.
In high school, I bought my first set of measuring spoons (which I still use!), and that’s when my passion for baking began. Long before blogs, I collected recipes from books, magazines, and home bakers, storing them in a binder away from floury messes.
Now, as a healthcare professional and mom, I teach balance—both at work and in my kitchen. I create wholesome meals and desserts with less sugar and real ingredients, so my kids grow up loving food that’s both delicious and nourishing.
This blog is about reclaiming the joy of scratch baking in a world of shortcuts. Let’s slow down, bake from the heart, and savor what real food tastes like—together.
Who is CakedbyJules?
CakedbyJules was born out of a dream to open a cozy, storybook bakery—one with mouthwatering pastries, rich coffee, and friendly locals. In 2023, I took the first step toward that dream by launching a micro-business from home. What started with simple cake orders soon expanded as friends and customers would ask, “Hey, do you make…?” My answer was often “Yes!”—and I’d get to work testing new recipes until they were just right.
While conventional business advice might frown upon this approach, it sparked my creativity and helped me grow as a baker. Thank you to all my friends and customers for pushing me to try new things. This blog is the next chapter in my baking journey, and I’m so excited to share it with you.
